1 pm – 4 pm
in-person: STEM Teaching and Learning Facility Room 2110.

This workshop will focus on how we navigate the complexities of interdisciplinary collaboration within institutional structures.

Participants will examine the relational (i.e. rank, age, disciplinary hierarchies), institutional, and physical dynamics of interdisciplinary collaboration. Paying special attention to power within these dynamics the workshop will explore how we navigate collaborations as empowered/disempowered individuals and help develop tools and strategics for understanding and mitigating hierarchies.  Participants will also develop skills to manage moments of conflict. We will examine conflict as an opportunity to deepen relationships, build more effective structures of co-learning and communication, and strengthen our collaborative outcomes.

Participation in this workshop is suggested for anyone interested in applying for CIRCLE’s Interdisciplinary Seed Grants (call for proposals will be released in February). Participation in previous CIRCLE workshops is not required, though completion of CIRCLE Interdisciplinary Collaboration Workshop 2 (offered in the spring of 2024 or in January 2025) is suggested.
