Compassion fatigue, often described as the "cost of caring," is a significant concern for professionals in helping roles, including academic advisors. This presentation aims to provide an understanding of compassion fatigue, its symptoms, and its impact on both personal well-being and professional effectiveness.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue
  • Develop effective coping strategies and learn practical techniques to manage effects of compassion fatigue
  • Foster a work environment that promotes self-care, peer support, and resilience among academic advisors to prevent and address compassion fatigue
