Leading Meaningful Discussions ***Walk-ins Welcome*** In-Person / Online
At their best, classroom discussions invite students into the heart of academic inquiry: questioning, exploring, and building knowledge together. In this workshop, you will explore strategies to get conversations started, manage common challenges, and facilitate dialogue that deepens learning and reflection. You will leave with tools to make your classroom discussions more inclusive, effective, and rewarding.
Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:
- design discussion prompts and structures that foster student engagement
- implement strategies to build student readiness for increased participation
- apply facilitation techniques to guide conversations, balance participation, and manage common challenges (e.g., silence, dominant voices, conflict)
- debrief and evaluate discussions to encourage reflection and reinforce learning.
