SLXD: Integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into Course Design

SLXD: Integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into Course Design In-Person / Online

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is all the rage these days, often discussed among learning experience designers and accessibility specialists. As a research-backed framework, it provides guidelines for optimizing teaching and learning for all people, based on scientific insights into how humans learn. This session is a crash course on what UDL is, how it is implemented in course design, and how you can modify your courses to improve engagement and accessibility. You will not only become a better instructor, but also a better Spartan Learning Experience Designer (SLXD).

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the principles and core concepts of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Implement UDL strategies to increase accessibility and engagement in courses.
  • Adapt course content and activities to provide multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression for diverse learners.

The in-person location for this session is the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation. Please join us in the Main Library, Room W207 (Training Room 1). For directions to Room W207, please visit the Room Locations page.
