An Afternoon with Nate Powell - Engaging Learning, Community, and Activism Through Comics In-Person

Join Murray & Hong Special Collections Comics Studies Librarian Jason Larsen for a discussion with cartoonist/comics creator Nate Powell. Nate is a multi-award winning, including National Book and Robert F Kennedy Book awards, cartoonist whose works include the recent graphic novel Fall Through, a comics adaptation of James Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Me, John Lewis' March trilogy, and numerous nonfiction comics for outlets like The Washington Post, Scholastic magazines, and even The Weather Channel.

The discussion will touch on his career in comics, how comics can be used in learning, community building/engagement, and activism, what is on the horizon for him creatively, and close out with a Q&A session with the audience. Afterwards, there will be a brief signing session.
