Electronic Laboratory Notebook Selection Workshop In-Person

This workshop is aimed to help in the eselection of an electronic laboratory notebook product that will best serve researchers' needs

Why an ELN?

They enable oversight by PIs; Data and documentation can be easily shared with collaborators; can prevent data from being lost when researchers move on

Some ELNs can be integrated with Mendeley, Dataverse, PubMed and other platforms making publishing  easier.

What should you look for?

Defining what exactly you need from electronic lab notebooks. Which functions are “must have” and which are “nice to have”?

Today’s ELNs extend beyond note and record keeping; they provide scope for individual work, team collaboration, data, inventory and project management. A good ELN can make sure all your data will be organized, searchable and annotated.

How to evaluate them?

There are a number of questions that will help define what ELN product may work for you. We have developed a rubric that address the most common functions/issues and allows various products to be compared.

Where can I get help selecting/deploying an ELN?

We will provide resources that can help you get started.

Attendance can be in-person or virtual via Zoom!
