Student-Centered Approach to Grading Workshop Online
This workshop aims to guide MSU educators in developing and implementing grading mechanisms that are efficient, transparent, and effective. By exploring various grading strategies and leveraging the capabilities of the D2L gradebook, educators will learn how to enhance student engagement, increase transparency, reduce anxiety, and promote equity in their courses.
Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:
- Describe the relationship between grade transparency and equity
- Understand the benefits of using the LMS gradebook for promoting student-centered grading
- Identify common barriers to gradebook utilization
- List student and instructor benefits to using the gradebook
- Examine the guiding questions and elements that go into creating and implementing a grading schema
- Describe how monitoring and analyzing gradebook data can be used to identify trends and make instructional adjustments
- Explore innovative grading practices
