Proceed and Be Bold: The Work of Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. In-Person
Showcasing the work of letterpress printer, book artist, and papermaker Amos Paul Kennedy Jr., this pop-up will feature posters and other printed materials that bridge the gap between art and activism. Kennedy, a Detroit-based artist who spend part of his childhood in East Lansing, is among the most prominent practitioners of the book arts today and, as one critic put it, is “unafraid of asking uncomfortable questions about race and artistic pretension.” Materials from MSU’s Murray & Hong Special Collections that reflect some of Kennedy’s influences will also be on display. Kennedy’s visit to campus is part of the 2024-2025 Stanley & Selma Hollander Visiting Artist, Designer, and Scholar Lecture Series.
