Intro to Extended Reality in Education: A hands-on workshop In-Person / Online
Extended Reality (XR)—aka virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR)—is the future of media. While these face computers are still not as comfortable as a pair of eyeglasses, they have been moving steadily in that direction for decades.
XR adoption is keeping pace, not just for gaming (XR games are fun!), but also for serious applications, like in education.
Did you know that MSU students have been taking classes in VR since 2022? …and that there are online high school programs which meet entirely in VR (~5 hours a day!!). …and that the VR in Education Market is expected to reach $11.36 billion by 2032 (Fortune Business Insights).
Join this workshop to get an accessible taste of this XR future.
This hybrid (in-person & remote) workshop is open to students, instructors, and other interested humans. XR headsets will be available for in-person attendees. If you do not think you can use XR comfortably, you will still be able to interact with others via avatar using a computer or mobile device.
Please RSVP HERE so we can prepare and order lunch appropriately. In-person spots are limited, so please sign up ASAP.
If you have any questions, email Dr. Ratan, rar@msu.edu.
