Modality Shift - From Hybrid to Asynchronous Delivery

Modality Shift - From Hybrid to Asynchronous Delivery Online

This virtual session will guide participants through the process of redesigning a hybrid course for fully asynchronous delivery. Attendees will explore strategies for adapting live and in-person elements into engaging, self-paced online activities while maintaining learning outcomes and fostering student engagement. The session will cover best practices for converting lectures, discussions, and assessments into asynchronous formats, building instructor presence, and supporting student interaction and community in an online environment. Participants will leave with practical steps and resources to ensure a smooth and effective transition from hybrid to asynchronous course design.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • identify the key differences between hybrid and asynchronous course structures, including their respective benefits and challenges
  • describe effective strategies for converting synchronous and in-person activities into engaging asynchronous formats
  • develop a plan to maintain student engagement, interaction, and instructor presence in a fully asynchronous environment
