Kumagusu Minakata's Early Days in Michigan:  A Focus on His Time at Michigan Agricultural College In-Person

Please join Professor Fumiko Yoshikawa from Hiroshima Shudo University for a presentation on Kumagusu Minakata.

Kumagusu Minakata (1867-1941), a Japanese biologist, naturalist and ethnologist, studied in Michigan from 1887 to 1891. During this time, he attended Michigan Agricultural College and later moved to Ann Arbor, where he studied independently through reading books and plant collecting. Professor Yoshikawa will speak about his time in Michigan and her research on the documents related to him preserved in the MSU Archives.
