SUMMARY:Data Carpentry: Genomics data management and analysis
DESCRIPTION:This workshop teaches data management and analysis for genomics 
 research including:\n\n\n	best practices for organization of bioinformatics 
 projects and data\, \n	use of command line utilities\, \n	use of command 
 line tools to analyze sequence quality and perform variant calling\, and 
 \n	connecting to and using cloud computing.\n\n\nNo prior experience with 
 the tools covered in the workshop is necessary\, however\, learners are 
 expected to have some familiarity with biological concepts\, including the 
 concept of genomic variation within a population.\n\nThis workshop will 
 occur June 15-18\, 2026 from 1:00pm-5:00pm each day. By the end of the 
 workshop\, learners will be able to:\n\n\n	structure their metadata\, 
 organize and document their genomics data and bioinformatics workflow\, and 
 access data on the NCBI sequence read archive (SRA) database\,\n	navigate 
 their file systems\, create\, copy\, move\, and remove files and 
 directories\, and automate repetitive tasks using scripts and 
 wildcards\,\n	use command-line tools to perform quality control\, align 
 reads to a reference genome\, and identify and visualize between-sample 
 variation\, and\n	work with Amazon AWS cloud computing and transfer data 
 between their local computer and cloud resources.\n\n\nThis is an official 
 Data Carpentry workshop and will follow its style\, curriculum\, and code 
 of conduct to provide a welcoming and interactive environment for learning 
 the basics of working with data.\n\nRegistration is required and closes on
