SLXD: Boosting Engagement with PeerWise In-Person / Online
Imagine transforming your large undergraduate class into a vibrant, lively community where students are not just consuming content, but actively interacting and engaging with it. Enter PeerWise, an innovative tool that makes the learning process dynamic.
The key features of PeerWise are:
- It is a repository of multiple-choice questions created by students as they reflect on important course concepts and possible misconceptions their peers may have.
- It requires students to explain in their own words why a certain answer is correct, which can be useful for other students.
- It allows students to evaluate the quality of each other's questions, making it easier to locate high-quality queries.
- It flips the traditional educational setting on its head by encouraging learners to reverse-engineer their own learning process.
This presentation is intended for all MSU educators, particularly those who are eager to boost course engagement with the use of PeerWise.
Upon completion of this learning experience participants will be able to:
- Describe the key benefits of peer learning and assessment
- Navigate and utilize PeerWise features to increase student engagement and participation
- Implement strategies to motivate students to create impactful, relevant questions on PeerWise
