SLXD: Creating a Liquid Syllabus: An Interactive Companion to Your Traditional Syllabus

SLXD: Creating a Liquid Syllabus: An Interactive Companion to Your Traditional Syllabus In-Person / Online

Is your traditional syllabus feeling a bit flat? Looking for new ways to connect with students before your course even begins? Join us as we introduce the liquid syllabus, an engaging and interactive supplement to the standard syllabus designed to excite students and clarify key course details right from the start.
In this session, you’ll discover:

  • What a liquid syllabus is, and how it enhances, rather than replaces, your required traditional syllabus.
  • How to use a liquid syllabus as a student-friendly, accessible preview of your course that sparks curiosity and motivation.
  • Practical ways to incorporate multimedia and interactive features to make essential information clear, memorable, and inviting.
  • Design tips for ensuring your liquid syllabus is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and aligns with best practices in course design.

Please note: This session is not focused on traditional syllabus creation or compliance with institutional policies. Instead, you’ll learn how to BUILD ON your existing syllabus by creating a companion piece that brings your course to life for students!

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Revise and update your syllabi to align with best practices in course communication.
  • Integrate interactive elements into a liquid syllabus to engage and motivate students from the outset.
  • Utilize design strategies to create a visually appealing and accessible student resource.
