SLXD: Enhancing Accessibility Through a Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) Lens

SLXD: Enhancing Accessibility Through a Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) Lens In-Person / Online

When you hear students complain that a course is “too much to handle,” hear them out. By understanding Cognitive Load Theory (CLT), you can enhance learning outcomes by optimizing cognitive load. Join us in learning about CLT and the guiding principles for creating content that facilitates better understanding and retention of information. You'll not only be a better Spartan Learning Experience Designer (SLXD) but also a better advocate for accessibility.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the key concepts and principles of Cognitive Load Theory (CLT)
  • Apply CLT principles to create accessible and effective learning resources
  • Evaluate existing course materials and instructional strategies to optimize cognitive load for diverse learners
