SLXD: Workshopping Your Learning Objectives In-Person / Online
Learning objectives are an essential part of course design. Learning objectives help select appropriate content for the course, and they provide a clear guideline for assessments.
Clearly written objectives help to communicate expectations to students. They will outline what the students will be able to do by the end of an instructional period – module or unit, and course.
This presentation is intended for all MSU educators, particularly those interested in improving their ability to write effective learning objectives.
Upon completion of this learning experience participants will be able to:
- Compose effective module-level learning objectives
- Identify appropriate action verbs for creating learning objectives
- Describe the relationship between learning objectives and assignments – alignment
- Outline the relationship between course-level objectives and module-level learning objectives
