SLXD: Workshopping Your Learning Objectives

SLXD: Workshopping Your Learning Objectives In-Person / Online

Effective course design begins with well-crafted learning objectives that clearly articulate what students should be able to do by the end of a module or course. These objectives serve as a guiding framework for selecting appropriate content and developing assessments that accurately measure student learning. This session will improve the overall quality of your course design by integrating well-defined learning objectives with aligned assessments.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the relationship between course-level objectives, module-level objectives, and assessments
  • Identify appropriate action verbs for creating meaningful learning objectives
  • Compose clear and effective module-level learning objectives
  • Evaluate existing assessments to determine their alignment with current learning objectives
  • Design assessments that accurately measure learners’ abilities to achieve specific learning objectives
